Båthusberget approx. 10 km
Nature of the tour: Medium/difficult hike with, in some parts steep, ascent. Hilly terrain.
Length of the tour: 10 km
Total ascent: approx. 400 m
Especially for the tour: One of Grövelsjöfjällen's most beautiful areas is Båthusberget with its dramatic cliffs that rise 350 m above the valley. At the foot there is a vegetation you don't often find in our area, including a rare bracken fern and some orchids. At the top, nice views of the Norwegian mountains and Lake Femunden await, but also a small pond that invites you to take a refreshing dip.
Things to consider/tips: Feel free to bring a packed lunch to enjoy on the Båthusberget plateau. The tour is preferably done counter-clockwise.
Hiking description
From Storsätern it is about 20 km by car into the Norwegian side towards Elgå. On the left side there is a parking pocket, from there you follow the path that takes you between two ponds.
Just after the stream, you turn off onto the path that goes to the right. This is followed by a rather steep climb which soon levels off. The path continues around the top of Djupsjöberget, and goes to a small pond. From there it is close to the top of the boathouse mountain.
After the top, you follow the slope until the path starts to take you down again. At Båthustjönnna, you walk east under the mountain's steep mountainside until you hit the path that then takes you back to the parking pocket where you started.
